I've heard of "The Shield" but didn't know that David
was in it.

I saw the first season of "The Shield", but that was before David was in
it. It's pretty good, and can be quite gritty and nasty. If you
remember Michael Chiklis from "The Commish", you can just banish that
friendly sociable image from your mind; in "The Shield" he's an angry,
hard-edged, violent dirty cop who you definitely don't want to get on
the wrong side of.
